SOLID WEEKEND OF RACING FOR STR38 MOTORSPORTS AT PENULTIMATE SEBRING ROUND

Sebring, Florida - STR38 Motorsports took to the classic Sebring International Raceway for the penultimate round 6 of the Pirelli GT4 America Championship. The team delivered a solid performance, showing speed and consistency in both the qualifying sessions and races, of which there were three this weekend due to the addition of the NOLA makeup race.

In the qualifying sessions, the #88 car secured second on the grid in the hands of Harry, with Chandler earning himself a P6 spot for race two. In the #438 car, Robert secured a strong P4 place on the starting grid, with Chris starting from P12 for race two. In the NOLA makeup race, both cars made fantastic charges through the field, narrowly missing out on podiums with 5th place in the Silver class for the #88 car and 4th in the Am class for the #438 car.

The Harry/Chandler duo put in a great drive to bring it home at the end of race one in sixth, despite being involved in a few mid-race tussles that have been a common theme throughout the 2023 Pirelli GT4 America season. Meanwhile in the Am class, Robert and Chris drove excellently to earn themselves a second-place finish and some champagne on the podium.

Race two brought more excitement still as both cars fought hard to the finish, ending up narrowly missing out on both podiums with two P4 finishes. Crucially, the team secured precious championship points ahead of the final round at the famous Indianapolis brickyard just two weeks away.

Chris Allen, driver #438: “Another great weekend with STR38 Motorsports at one of my favorite tracks on earth, Sebring. As soon as you see those palm trees and the blue and white walls you know you're in for a treat, this time was no different. We were fortunate enough to have 3 races there this weekend and aside from not actually winning I was quite happy with how they went. Thanks to Ike and Christian the setups were top notch and our M4 rode the bumps like a dream. Two P4's and a podium 2nd place put us 2nd in the championship with a commanding lead over 3rd. Let’s try this one more time in Indy!

Robert Mau, driver #438: “My season long dream of a full green flag race was finally delivered! It was great to break the podium drought with another 2nd place finish.

Chandler Hull, driver #88: “Sebring once again showed that Harry and I have great speed together. However, small setbacks keep us from getting a victory. We’ll keep pushing for the final two races of the year at Indy in a couple weeks.

Harry Gottsacker, driver #88: “It was an interesting and long weekend having three races to complete at Sebring. The team prepared a great car and we showed a lot of speed. Charging through the field in Race 1 and 3 was fun, but leading the race outright in Race 2 was for sure the highlight. If we can have a straightforward race weekend in Indy, I think we will be tough to beat!

Jon Miller, team manager:We’re proud of the strong GT4 showing again for our drivers and cars at Sebring International Raceway. It was a hot and tricky weekend, especially having three races rather than our usual two. Our number 88 car set the fastest BMW race lap on Saturday and brought home a P4 overall and class finish on Sunday. Our number 438 had a fantastic, consistent and clean weekend, with two 4th place finishes and a P2 on Saturday. Although the championship is mathematically out of reach, we are looking to solidify P2 the AM championship at the final round in Indianapolis next week.

STR38 Motorsports extends its gratitude to their valued partners, including Cannonball Storage, OVN, Simseats, Ozium, Caza de Oro, MOTUL, HRX, and BMW Motorsport, for their unwavering support. The team is filled with anticipation for the final round of the Pirelli GT4 America Championship at Indianapolis Motor Speedway from October 5-7, as they battle it out one last time for precious championship points.
