STR38 MOTORSPORTS STARTS PIRELLI GT4 AMERICA SEASON WITH TWO PODIUMS AT SONOMA RACEWAY

Orange County-based race team, STR38 Motorsports kicked off the Pirelli GT4 America championship with a strong showing at Sonoma Raceway over the past weekend. The team fielded two new BMW Motorsport M4 GT4s, #438 & #88, and put on an impressive display of skill and determination to bring home two podium finishes in race 2 within an exceptionally large field of over 40 cars.

Managing a trouble-free run through the opening round, car #438, driven by Robert Mau and Chris Allen, secured a P2 finish in the second race of the weekend. The performance from Mau and Allen was a testament to their driving ability and the team’s exceptional preparation and execution. Meanwhile, in the Silver class, Chandler Hull and Jon Miller also put on an outstanding performance in the #88 M4 GT4, gaining nine positions overall and finishing P3 in class to secure both team entries a place on the podium.

Robert Mau, driver #438: “What we didn’t have in flat out speed we made up for in race craft and strategy. In both races we came from far in the back, avoided incidents, and nailed the pit stops. So proud to be a part of STR38 and hats off to my co-driver Chris Allen who carried the day today. I couldn’t be more pleased with the P2 finish!”

Chris Allen, driver #438: "It was an excellent weekend with STR38 Motorsports. I could not be more impressed with the level of professionalism in the team and the great cooking too! You couldn't ask for much more... other than the 2nd place podium we secured on Sunday! Beauty strategy calls by Riccardo and Christian. Now to start prep for NOLA in a few weeks where Rob and I will hunt for the top spot."

Chandler Hull, driver #88: “It was great to be back racing with the ST family! Historically, Sonoma hasn’t been the best track for our BMWs but I’m glad we were able to take this new M4 GT4 to a podium position. We survived the chaos and put our heads down and we’re able to move forward.”

Jon Miller, Team Manager, driver #88: “We’re thrilled to have both of our new BMW M4 GT4s on the podium at the first weekend of the season. Our expectations were to learn more about the new cars, and take home what points were on offer – knowing that Sonoma would likely not be our best track. P2 in AM for Chris and Rob and P3 for Chandler and me in Silver is a welcome reward for the mechanics and engineers who have worked extra hard this week to get us off to a strong start. Our BMWs proved strong and reliable and will only get faster as we get to know them better!”

STR38 Motorsports is thrilled with the performance at Sonoma Raceway and is excited to build on this success throughout the rest of the season. The team's dedication, coupled with the drivers' outstanding performances, sets a strong foundation for the season. The Pirelli GT4 America championship continues in Avondale, Louisiana later this month at NOLA Motorsports Park from April 28-30, followed by a trip to the famous Circuit of the Americas venue in Texas from May 19-21.

STR38 Motorsports would like to thank partners, Cannonball Storage, OVN, Simseats, Ozium, Caza de Oro, MOTUL, HRX and BMW Motorsport for their support. We look forward to creating more success stories together and continuing the momentum achieved at Sonoma Raceway throughout the remainder of the 2023 season.
